AI citation checker
AI answers can cite a real page that doesn't actually say what the answer claims. Azimuth Check's citation checker attempts to read cited sources and compares up to 30 numbered claim/source pairs, so you can see which citations hold up.
How it works
- Search on Azimuth Check and get an AI answer with numbered sources.
- Click Check citations under the answer.
- Azimuth Check reads the text of each cited page and an AI compares each cited claim with it.
- Each claim gets a verdict, with a short quote from the source when one is found.
What the verdicts mean
- Supported
- The cited page contains text that backs up the claim.
- Partly supported
- The page supports some of the claim, but not all of it.
- Not found in source
- No matching support was found on the cited page.
- Couldn't check
- The page couldn't be read (for example, it blocked access, needs a login, or isn't a web page).
Limits you should know
- The check itself is done by AI, so it can miss errors or misjudge a claim. Treat it as a guide, not proof.
- It checks whether the cited page supports the claim, not whether the page itself is accurate.
- Uncited statements are not checked. Answers with more than 30 cited pairs show how many were reviewed.
- Paywalled, login-only, PDF or script-heavy pages may not be readable. Summary-only comparisons are marked as unverified, not page-supported.
- For anything important (legal, medical, financial, academic), open and read the original source yourself.
