Azimuth Check FAQ & how-to guide

Quick, step-by-step instructions for every feature.

Getting started

›How do I search?

Type in the search bar on the homepage and press Enter.

Use the tabs under the bar (All, Web, AI Answers, Images, Videos, News, Research, AI Tools) to switch what kind of results you see.

›Do I need an account?

No. Guests get 10 web searches and 5 AI answers a day.

A free account raises that to 20 web searches and 10 AI answers a day and saves your history. Click Sign in at the top right to create one.

›What does Premium include and how do I upgrade?

Premium is $8.99/month (5-day free trial) or $89.99/year, with up to 2,000 searches and AI answers a day combined.

It unlocks Legal Research, Academic Research, deep research reports, citation checking, Cross-examine, Documents and alerts. Features marked with a small lock need Premium.

Go to Pricing and choose a plan.

›How do I switch between light and dark mode?

Use the theme button in the top bar.

›How do I make Azimuth Check my default search engine?

Open Get the app from the homepage and follow the How to Install steps for your browser, or install the Azimuth Check browser extension.

AI answers

›How do I get an AI answer with sources?

Search, then open the AI Answers tab (or read the answer panel on All).

Numbers like [1] are clickable and open the exact page the fact came from. Citations only appear when they match a real source.

›How do I pick a different AI model?

Use the model picker above the answer to choose OpenAI, Anthropic or Google models. The answer always shows which model actually replied.

›How do I compare models side by side?

Turn on Compare in the answer panel and choose the models. Each answers from the same sources so you can see differences.

›What is Cross-examine? (Premium)

After comparing answers, click Cross-examine. An independent model reviews the answers against the shared sources and flags disagreements and unsupported claims.

›How do I check citations? (Premium)

Click Check citations under an answer. Azimuth Check opens each source and reports whether it really supports the claim.

›How do I ask a follow-up question?

Type in the follow-up box under the answer. Your conversation is saved to History when you're signed in.

›How do I stop or share an answer?

Click Stop while it's writing. When finished, click Share to create a public link anyone can open.

Research

›How do I use General Research or deep research reports? (Premium)

Click the Research tab and choose General Research. For a full report, start a deep research report; it runs several searches and lets you download Word or PDF.

›How do I use Legal Research? (Premium)

Click Research, then Legal Research.

Choose a jurisdiction: All, U.S. Supreme Court, Federal, or a state.

Results include court opinions, the U.S. Code, federal regulations, the Federal Register, Congress.gov bills, Cornell LII and state statutes from Justia. Landmark cases are labeled.

Use Read full text, Bluebook citation (copy a formatted cite), or Original. Save research to come back to it.

It's a research aid, not legal advice; always verify the official text.

›How do I use Academic Research? (Premium)

Click Research, then Academic Research. Results come from OpenAlex, PubMed and Crossref, limited to journal articles (no preprints or retracted papers).

Sort by relevance or most cited, and tick Free full text only to see free papers.

Images, photos and voice

›How do I create an image?

Open the Images menu and choose Create an Image, then describe what you want. Images use your daily AI allowance and are family-safe.

›How do I search by photo?

Open the Images menu, choose Search by Image, and upload or take a photo. AI describes it and finds related results.

›How do I search by voice?

Click the microphone in the search bar and speak. Your browser will ask for microphone permission the first time.

AzimuthBot

›How do I chat with AzimuthBot?

Open AzimuthBot from the top bar and type a message. Free use includes 5 messages a day.

Your chats appear in the side panel, where you can search, rename or delete them.

›Can AzimuthBot search the web, make images or read files?

Turn on web search in the message box to have it look things up with sources.

Ask it to make an image, or attach a reference image to edit.

Attach a document to ask about it, then export drafts as Word, PDF or Excel.

›How do I edit, regenerate or listen to a reply?

Hover a message for Copy, Edit, Regenerate and Read aloud.

Documents (Premium)

›How do I upload a document and ask about it?

Go to Documents, upload a PDF, Word or text file, and ask a question or request a revision.

Download the result as Word or PDF. Your file is read in your browser and is never stored on our servers.

Local, weather and tools

›How do I find places near me?

Search something like "coffee near me". Allow location when asked, or Azimuth Check will estimate your city. Results show on a map with details.

›How do I check the weather?

Open Weather, allow location or enter a city. You'll see current conditions, alerts, a seven-day forecast comparison, radar, nearby airport reports and links to local outlets.

›How do I use the AI Tools directory?

Click the AI Tools tab or open Tools. Search or filter by category, click the star to favorite a tool, and open the tool's own site. Tools marked as built in work inside Azimuth Check; others are links to third-party sites.

Alerts and meetings

›How do I set an alert? (Premium)

Go to Alerts, enter a topic (or a court-ruling topic), and choose how often. New results are emailed to you.

›How do I start a video meeting?

Go to Meetings, enter a title and date/time, then click Generate link to share it, or Start Now to begin right away.

Your account and data

›Where are my history, saved answers and favorites?

Sign in, then open History for past searches and chats. Favorites and saved answers are in your Account.

›How do I clear recent searches?

Click into the search bar and choose Clear next to Recent.

›How do I delete my data or account?

Go to Account. You can delete saved data or permanently delete your account there.
